Why Communism Does Not Work

In a recent Cuban study, it was found that a rather large percentage of Cuban workers shirk their duties at work, including not showing up or leaving work inexplicably. Another problem cited was workers taking business (i.e., government) property and selling it on the black market.

This is why communism does not work (no pun intended). In an economy where income is suppressed, and there are no incentives to work, why would anyone work? Communism will always collapse because there is no incentives to keep the commune running. Communism may be a great tool in revolting against oppression, but it is unsustainable over the long-run. Everyone wants to improve their lot in life, and when the government will not allow that, what's left but mooching as much off the system for as little work as possible.

I don't think Fidel or Raul understand that. I also don't think our own government understands that anymore. In our slow fade into communo-capitalism, led by a liberal government, we will find the same attitudes to be held by Americans. Humans are all alike.

Humanity was given a desire and a command to improve the world around them by God. Genesis 1:28 "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." (Gen 1:28) God in fact made man to function this way. The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. (Gen 2:15) Even in the Fall, man was still to serve this function, except it was now made harder. "Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return." (Gen 3:17-19) Humanity has a need to improve their lot and to bring order to chaos.

Capitalism, when operating correctly, supports this understanding of humanity. Communism, however, does not. It starts not with the command of God but with a skewed, Darwinian, vision of man. Communism is humanity centered. It seeks to create a humanistic utopia. Communism is foisted upon nations through chaotic revolution, it then assumes that the government, not the individual, knows what is best for the individual. Further, it takes away human ability to enlarge or care for personal property. Last, it assumes the utopic goodness of man and enforces a pseudo-altruism. It is a false altruism because it is enforced. You have no choice but to build the commune, trusting someone else to take care of you. This last point, the skewing of the image of man, also results in a skewed image of God. Communists are inherently anti-theists. If God exists, in their view, he isn't good because his primary focus is not on communal humanity. His focus is on himself (his glory), thus he is not to be trusted.

Communism is, of course, unbiblical. Communism is a failure as a political system. This recent study only helps prove its bankruptcy.
